Points of interest: This route features the valley where Buffalo Bill Cody lived as a boy. Ride through Salt Creek Valley, to the Eight-mile house, and back past the buffalo.
Eight-mile house: "David Herley operated the famous early day tavern and saloon known as the "Eight Mile House". It was located approximately eight miles northwest of the city of Leavenworth in Kickapoo Township at a point where the Fort Riley Road and Old Oregon Trail branched."
