Beginning gravel routes

Gravel rides are notoriously gnarly. We like gravel because it takes you to places you might never have discovered before. Riding gravel at a slower pace, so you can see things along the way is nice too. Low vehicle traffic is a nice bonus.

River Road route

Mileage: 20 Miles of flat

Points of Interest: River Road or Oak Mills road as the maps call it, starts in Kickapoo and follows the river flats to Atchison.  The area of Oak Mills was originally an Indian Settlement before it became a French fort and eventually the Oak Mills settlement. Port Williams, the Missouri River, and the old Mo-Pac rail line (now UP) are other cool sites to see. Lots of history on this stretch of road.
